WHEN LIFE CONTINUES
While mongrels
nibble at my toes
eager to devour me,
I hope to be as cool
as I was in knee pants
when Mother laundered
my white shirts crisp.
Under the razzle dazzle
of reveries, I edit
my eschatological laundry list,
and put my best foot forward.
I reach for higher ground
and unfurl the flag of my self,
getting a ride with an angel Uber
driver to the edge of the universe.
You never know what kind of sexy,
extraterrestrial women are out there.
